Trace network bottlenecks from behind the customer firewall |
Resolving network connectivity and Internet performance problems is the number one objective when a customer complains. This is increasingly difficult when customers are remote and rely on the Internet as their primary network.
DesktopPerspective provides visibility to Internet connectivity diagnostics originating from remote systems, enabling quick identification of connectivity problems without imposing on the customer. Because there is no need for any remote agent software to be pre-deployed on the user's workstation, implementation is fast, providing immediate benefits with low costs.
DesktopPerspective provides all the features of VisualRoute Professional Support Edition PLUS web-browser access, automated trace configuration and enterprise scalability.

FEATURES:
- Automated analysis of network connectivity problems
DesktopPerspective answers the question "Why can't I get there from here" by providing an analysis of the Internet from where the customer is to where the customer is trying to connect. DesktopPerspective provides a detailed analysis of the connection test performed and an analysis of each network segment -- the perfect tool for troubleshooting remote systems. (learn more)
- On-demand access to connectivity tests from key network points
Analyze network connectivity and Internet performance problems from multiple key network points anywhere in the world. Quickly identify the cause of location-specific connectivity problems impacting service delivery -- a key to network monitoring. (learn more)
- Self-service support model
Automated test capabilities support reports that are emailed to a preconfigured or a user-specified email address. Now you can provide reverse trace connectivity testing 24/7 with a fully automated self-service model. (learn more)
- Seamless, secure, easy-to-use customer interface
DesktopPerspective has an imbedded HTTP server that delivers a very small agent to the customer location via the browser. When requested, DesktopPerspective digitally signs the desktop agent and dispatches it to the customer.
- Fast implementation with minimal customer impact
Because DesktopPerspective does not need any remote agent software to be pre-deployed on the user's workstation, implementation is fast providing immediate benefits with low costs.
- Meaningful reporting
- Summary Analysis provides
a high-level summary of every connection trace, an integral part of solving the problem
- Route Analysis helps determine precisely where and how
traffic is flowing on the route between the desired destination and the user trying to access it,
providing a geographical map of the route, and the performance on each portion of that route
- Combining the Route Analysis with the Geography Analysis and Summary Analysis (including the application service at the destination) provides a clear picture of the end-to-end route in a simple to use GUI
- IP trace reports can be saved in popular formats for after-the-fact analysis
- Robust configuration options
- Port testing capability allows you to check specific ports for availability
- Zoomable world map provides quick and easy reporting of the actual path of the customer's Internet or Intranet connection on a world map, showing where service levels are degrading
- Expandable host database allows you to easily augment the delivered geographic-IP database with your own node addresses
- Multiple display formats lets you present the data in a format that suits your needs
- Test configuration options include customizable ping packet size, number of pings and timeout values for varying levels of analysis and testing of routes
- Multi-lingual interface supports Czech, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish language selection
ACCURATE SERVICE LEVEL MONITORING FROM THE DESKTOP:
By using the remote, distributed agent technology, DesktopPerspective measures
the actual latency (and packet loss) to the application service directly from the customer's desktop or from strategic points within your network.
Connection analysis includes all the network hops including the customers network, the local ISP provider and all
other service providers between the customer and application service. With browser access to the DesktopPerspective server, connectivity diagnostics are now available from anywhere, anytime.
DesktopPerspective provides three types
of Internet connection network peformance data: an overall analysis, a data table, and a
geographical view of the routing. The analysis section
provides the number of routing hops, where problems
occurred, the web server software running at the
destination site, and identifies any routing loops.
The data table lists information for each hop, including
packet loss, IP address, node name, geographical
location, ping response and the major Internet backbone
where each server resides. The zoomable world map
gives a graphical representation of the actual path
of an Internet connection. A click on a server or
network name provides WHOIS information including
name, address, telephone and email address -- instant
contact information for problem reporting or further
investigation of an IP address.
Integration with DesktopAnalyzer, which is targeted at resolving problems occurring on the customer's desktop
computer that impact the application service, provides the means to validate that the customer's desktop
environment is configured and performing correctly to support the application being served.
